And The Winner For Bad Pun Of The Year Is...

The Blueshirt Bulletin with: Rangers Hab Another Comeback in Them

The game was certainly an interesting note to end the year on for the Rangers. Coming off a blowout of the Leafs the night before they came out strong but faded quite a bit in the second period. It is nice to see the team has a little fight and the ability to come back when down. That instinct and drive is something that hasn’t always been there in recent years.

Lets hope 2008 starts like 2007 has finished for the Rangers.

Rangers Fan Internet Primer

The NHL season is now in full swing — and though the ride has been a little bumpy the new season has brought some new or upgraded hockey web sites and game coverage.

  • MSG online has beefed up its online coverage including their Game On blog with postings by on air personalities like Stan Fischler and Deb Kaufman, as well as regular video clips from post game interviews and other coverage that doesn’t make it on the air.
  • NY Post Rangers blog, from the Daily News there’s John Dellapina’s Blog and from the Journal News there’s Sam Weinman and Josh Thomson’s blog.
  • Joe McDonald and the rest of the writers at New York Sports Day continue their great local hockey coverage. They also host a couple other great blogs like My Blueshirt Heaven.
  • Hockeybird forums are dead, long live Rangerland. The long time favorite home to Rangers fans has closed in the offseason and many of the regulars have set up shop at Rangerland which had opened last season

Did I miss anything? Post your favorites in the comments.

Its déjà vu all over again.

The Rangers defenseman Michal Rozsival scores on the first shot on goal of the NHL season just 37 seconds into the game.

Last season Jaromir Jagr scored a goal on the first shot of the 2006-2007 season.

Not to be missed, off season acquisition Chris Drury getting his first point as a Ranger with an assist on the Rozy goal.

Its great to have hockey back.

I never did get to work that day. Look back on Sept. 11, 2001

I saw the first signs of something being wrong from my seat on a NJ Transit train into Hoboken. Though I did make it to that stop, by the time I did they had shut down all the train service and other public transportation both in to Manhattan and out of Hoboken.

Now, About That Other Domi

Not DOM I, but Tie Domi.

Tie Domi set to announce retirement

The longtime Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer will officially make the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, a source told The Canadian Press.

Gonna miss him being in the league. He’ll always be one of my favorite Rangers even though he’s been one of /those/ Leafs for a decade. Always seemed to find his way into my FHL drafting too.

On My Way To Work But Never Got There

Five year ago today, on September 11, 2001, I was on my way to the work but never got there. The commute at the time was a NJ Transit train to Hoboken and then the PATH train to 9th Street where I got out and then walked across Broadway to the office. I made it to Hoboken shortly after one of the planes hit the towers and by then all transportation there was shut down and I was let wandering Hoboken all day like so many others.

When putting together this gallery and looking through the photos I had taken and digesting it all I wrote:

Look elsewhere for words. I have not yet found any that does what I saw justice.

I still don’t have the right words to describe the events, and 5 years later I fear the attempt would only be muddied by feelings about the events and changes that have taken place since.
